These recordings by Brisbane Jazz Club’s sound engineer Mark Smith span 11years, making it a mammoth task to select standout tracks.

Inevitably there was too much material to fit on a 12” vinyl LP so I decided to release the best of the overspill as a digital album, Off The Record.

DB3 never knew when Mark was recording…not until 2013, anyway, when he recorded a gig that happened to coincide with my birthday.

That recording would become the sound track for a video that you will find elsewhere on this website.

I am grateful to have enjoyed the company of such talented musicians on this journey.
