Description
DB3: The Lake Sessions follows the successful DB3: The Leopard Lodge Sessions.
The album was recorded over two intense days in my studio on the shores of Lake Cootharaba.
Personnel comprises Andrew Shaw (acoustic bass), Nathan Goldman (drums) and me on piano and vocals.
Sound engineer Mark Smith brought his well-equipped portable studio with him – and the results speak for themselves.
The concept was to produce an album containing a representative selection of the material the trio performs in concert, supplemented by fresh material.
As at most of our gigs, the album opens with Mose Allison’s 50s jazz classic Ask Me Nice and continues with my composition, Cash In The Hand.
The album includes a new original, On Manus Island (outlining the plight of refugees) and our contemporary version of Mississippi John Hurt’s Make Me A Pallet On Your Floor…as well as the jazz standards we love to play,
In all, there are 13 tracks.
I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we did recording it.
Best Wishes,
David Bentley
